Waterfront East LRT extension visual communications by Spatial Media

Toronto's Eastern Waterfront is one of the fastest-growing areas in the city and across North America, and we are excited to bring to life the planned Waterfront East LRT Section.

Toronto's Eastern Waterfront is one of the fastest-growing areas in the city and across North America, and we are excited to bring to life the planned Waterfront East LRT Section.

With an estimated 50,00 jobs and 100,000 new residents, extending public transport connections along the Eastern Waterfront will support the City’s rapidly growing waterfront neighbourhoods, enabling the connection of new suburbs, parks and commercial zones.

Check out the project overview we have created for TTC, Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto in collaboration with the teams at WSP, SAI, West8, Public Work, dtah and Stantec.

Waterfront East LRT Extension Overview.

The Waterfront East LRT extension will see major design upgrades to Toronto’s public transport infrastructure including new and rebuilt tunnel portals on Queens Quay at the foot of Bay Street, accessibility upgrades to the existing west entrance at Queens Quay Ferry Docks Station, and the expansion and design transformation of the underground Union streetcar station including new expanded platforms, station entrance connections and upgrades to services. With such a complex and important project engaging and informing current and future residents and businesses is vital to the project’s success.

Here is how we have taken our technologies to create digital assets that simply and effectively communicate the projects key information and design intent.

What will construction of one of Canada’s most exciting projects mean for residents and business during construction?

In our latest video for TTC, Waterfront Toronto and the City of Toronto and created with WSP, SAI, West8, Public Work, dtah and Stantec, we have detailed the planned works and the impacts to public transport as the The Waterfront East LRT extension is delivered.

Designed to inform and reassure stakeholders about the network and road changes that will keep the city moving as construction takes place, the video is a great example of how a complex project can be communicated effectively to engage with the communities it will benefit.

Airside Driving Simulator an important part of the training program

It can be storming outside. It could be night time. Any time of the day or night we can create these simulations. It’s very flexible.

They are our go to tech-savvy experts with huge amounts of creative flair!

COVID19 social distancing restrictions made having our large scale community event nearly impossible, so we decided to take our face-to-face event online. Spatial worked really closely with us to develop the concept, design and platform that would host our virtual community event. The Spatial team are exceptionally creative, with a fantastic ability to bring your idea to fruition in a way you never thought possible. They made our pen on paper scribble into something that over 45k stakeholders visited online, more than what we could have reached in person. Thank you
