Uplift the current WestConnex travellers journey planning capabilities and user experience to be able to easily and quickly familiarise with new route options, tolling and time-savings ahead of the actual road opening.
Spatial Media worked closely with Transurban communications and traffic teams to understand the challenges with their current journey planning offering and ideal user experience outcomes from this project.
The resulting output developed is a custom web portal that enables users to search in different ways, integrates virtual driver journey videos, time saving calculations and has a follow car feature to visualise the route selected from a high level, zoom or 3D perspective. Users can search their journey using the address bar, custom map pins, entry and exit points or unique landmarks and the results display the time saving benefit, routes utilised as well as the journey video visualisations. The WestConnex Plan Your Journey tool has been continually updated to reflect the new routes as newer components of the project opened such as Rozelle Interchange and Sydney Gateway proving an invaluable part of their opening and readiness communication and engagement strategy.
Transurban teams can easily access analytics data from Spatial Media’s SpatialEngage platform to understand journeys searched, most popular routes and usage statistics in alignment with opening campaigns.
