The Western Renewables Link project has raised concerns for many including farmers, businesses and communities and particularly for landholders in the proposed route. Ausnet are using a range of communication tools to keep everyone up to date and wanted to expand their engagement capabilities beyond their standard project website.
Spatial Media created a Virtual Engagement Room for the Western Renewables Link project that allows community to take a virtual walk around and explore information about the project’s benefits, timelines, the Environment Effects Statement (EES) process and an interactive map of the proposed route. The engagement room expands on the project’s comprehensive community engagement initiatives and activities that includes community drop-in sessions, online webinars and stakeholder briefings. Information is updated as the project moves through the planning and approvals process.
The interactive map shows the proposed route has been identified and demonstrates the range of technical investigations, landholder, community and stakeholder input, and constructability and technical aspects that it is based on. The project team are continually updating the map to reflect changes and fostering engagement by linking the changes to feedback received from landholders and community. The interactive map also supports transparency in engagement with previous routes and previous rounds of community engagement able to be toggled and overlay with the current proposed route.
