The Wilan Wind Farm team have hosted various in person and online engagement opportunities for local communities and wanted a space to centralise project information and updates that is interactive and easy to use as the project progresses.
The Wilan Wind Farm is proposed in the NSW Riverina having boundaries approximately 25km east of Balranald, 40km north of Moulamein and 80km west of Hay. Created by Spatial Media the Virtual Engagement Room for the Wilan Wind Farm reflects the project team’s engagement approach to be transparent, build understanding and connection and emphasises to the community their voice matters with opportunity to provide input. The Virtual Engagement Room is set in the outdoors reflective of the proposed wind farm landscape and allows users to navigate through informative boards, review planning documents, engage with project experts and explore the interactive project map to discover the positive contributions of Wilan Wind Farm to the community.
The second phase of Spatial Media’s collaboration with the Wilan Wind Farm project team was the creation of an interactive map that guides users through the key information grouped into easy to navigate sections - project infrastructure, noise, visual assessments, biodiversity and water. The interactive map also enables the user to toggle between the current layout and the initial layout an important distinction to show the reduction in turbines based on earlier consultation feedback. The interactive map is a huge uplift in on the previous PDF static map and provides greater understanding of the local information gathered, works to date and project layout in context of the location.
