From Australia via Canada, we're on the last leg of our whistle-stop tour of the Spatial Media Commonwealth, now heading to Northampton in the UK to meet Jack Wilkinson, our dev-ops wizard.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Northampton, which is located in the East Midlands of the UK.
What’s the best thing about your hometown?
My hometown is actually Woking, near London, the best thing about it is the train that takes you to Waterloo station in London in only 20 minutes :)
How have you enjoyed life at Spatial Media?
It's been very good.
What excites you about your role with Spatial Media?
I really enjoy getting to solve interesting problems in creative ways. For example, getting cornerstone running on serverless lambda functions with read-only filesystems
What is it like to work remotely for a global organisation?
It's very similar to working remotely for a domestic organisation, however, everybody is asleep when I wake up. The communication and use of tools like Slack & Jira make it very easy to connect with people and get tasks done.
What does a typical day look like at Spatial Media?
I split my schedule to work in with my day and also with the time zones across Australia and Canada. Typically, I start around 10 am and work through to lunch at 1 pm. From there I’ll go until 5 pm before taking the evening off before an early hours stint from 1 am to 2 am for stand-up calls and meetings.
